Engagements

Hartley + Houston | Sewanee, Tn Engagement

Hartley and Houston’s spring engagement session was everything I love about photographing couples—sweet love stories, thoughtful details, and just a whole lot of fun. These two have been together for five years, and the connection they share is something special. They’re the kind of couple who are just as happy thrifting together or grabbing coffee as they are doing their own thing side-by-side—like Hartley reading a book in the garage while Houston works on his cars. (Seriously, goals.)

Speaking of cars – Houston casually mentioned during our shoot that he and his dad pick a car project every year to restore and rebuild together. As soon as he told me that, I knew we had to tie that passion into their session somehow. So we did a quick location switch and headed to the cutest vintage Texaco gas station nearby – and let me tell you, it was absolutely perfect. The old-school vibe, the soft spring light, the way these two look at each other? Magic.

Their love story is full of meaningful moments, like their proposal. Houston brought Hartley back to the place they had their first official date – the ice skating rink in downtown Huntsville,AL . With their song, “Turn to Stone,” playing in the background, he got down on one knee. So simple, so thoughtful, and just so them.

When I asked them what they’re most excited about for their wedding day, Hartley said she can’t wait to see their lives and families join together and have everyone celebrating their love in one place. Houston? He’s pumped to drive away from the reception in a cool car (naturally) and start forever with his girl.

Hartley and Houston, you two are such a joy and I’m counting down the days until your big day!

Stay tuned for their wedding—it’s going to be so good.
